Bloomberg Media’s global chief revenue officer and client partnerships officer Paul Caine is leaving the publisher after two years in the role, it has been revealed.

Former Time Inc CRO Caine is departing in mid-July to pursue a “fresh challenge”, following period of major global transformation at Bloomberg. In the interim, sales and marketing will be overseen by chief operating officer Jacki Kelley, to whom he had reported.

Caine’s departure was announced a week after Bloomberg reported positive financial results, with ad sales up 11% year-on-year over the first five months of the year – driven by a 40% leap in US TV revenue.

In a memo seen by M&M Global, Kelley praised the impact Caine has had on Bloomberg’s operations: “What a difference two years make! As a team, you have done something that would only be possible at Bloomberg given the structure and mission of our global media business: You have integrated across five platforms around the world and restructured your approach to be idea-centric and platform neutral.

“Transformations like this require exceptional leadership, and we have been fortunate to have Paul at the helm during this defining time. From developing a tremendous team to building a truly multi-platform selling organisation to delivering industry-leading results, Paul has had a lasting impact on Bloomberg Media.”

Caine himself added in another memo seen by M&M Global: “Over the past two years, my team and I have had the incredible opportunity to help transform Bloomberg Media into a high performing, multi-platform global sales and marketing organisation with a sophisticated, digital-first approach. I am proud that our efforts have exceeded all expectations on each of these points.

“With the global ad sales and marketing of Bloomberg Media now in a strong position, I am excited to share that I will be leaving Bloomberg to refocus and reprioritise my efforts.”

Caine spoke to M&M Global earlier this year to discuss details of Bloomberg’s newly-expanded content studio, Kinection.
