Matthew Dearden has confirmed that he will stay on as president of European OOH media body FEPE, despite stepping down as Clear Channel Europe president last month.

Dearden has said he will remain until the end of the year, if not longer, at the invitation of the FEPE worldwide board.

He is heavily involved in planning future FEPE initiatives, including the 2017 Congress in Stockholm, having played a leading role at this year’s event in Barcelona.

FEPE executive director John Ellery said: “Matthew has impressed everyone at FEPE with his dynamism and commitment and we’re delighted he has agreed to remain FEPE president through 2016.”

Dearden’s departure from Clear Channel came as the company announced a restructure of the senior management team in a bid to drive greater operational efficiency.

“I’m proud to have been part of the team leading such a successful digital transformation and growth of talent, positioning Clear Channel at the forefront of the out-of-home digital revolution,” he commented as news of his move was announced, following a tenure of six years.

Clear Channel International chairman and chief executive William Eccleshare commented that OOH is transitioning into a “truly digital medium thanks to the creative and engagement opportunities made possible by new technologies”, which he plans to target by working more closely with business units to build an “agile advertising culture”.
