GroupM secures controlling interest in MediaCom India24.01.2017
GroupM is looking to tap into growth in the Indian market with the acquisition of a controlling interest in MediaCom India, previously a joint venture with Madison Media owner Sam Balsara.
MediaCom India was founded in 2007 and, one year later, became a joint venture between GroupM India and Balsara, the principal shareholder of Madison Media group.
The agency has become a top-five local player in market share, employing 170 people across offices in Gurgaon, Bangalore and Mumbai, and generating annual revenues of INR 700m ($10.9m). Its clients include Dell, Edelweiss, Mars, P&G, SAB Miller, Tata Docomo, Urban Ladder and Wrigley’s.
MediaCom India will continue operating as an independent brand, with access to GroupM’s global infrastructure, according to a statement by the company.
